我院英语专业始建于1994年，是外国语学院首个本科专业，为四川省本科人才培养基地，在教育部英语专业本科教学评估中获评优秀等级，获批四川省一流本科专业建设点。依托传统英语专业深厚的办学积淀，本系创新开设英语（语言智能）特色方向，立足新时代人工智能与语言服务融合发展趋势，突破传统外语人才培养范式，深耕人工智能+外国语言文学交叉学科领域，打造复合型、智能化、应用型高端语言人才培养体系，是学院适配数字经济时代的核心特色培养方向。
本系师资力量雄厚、结构优良、梯队完善，拥有一支治学严谨、教研能力突出的高水平教学科研团队。在传统文学、语言学、翻译、跨文化研究优势基础上，重点培育语言智能、计算语言学、智能语言服务、语料库大数据分析等交叉研究方向，组建了专项教研科研团队，深耕语言智能领域教学改革与学术研究，兼具扎实的外语教学功底与前沿的人工智能交叉学科研究能力。同时，本系持续深化国际化、行业化育人模式，聘请人工智能语言服务行业资深从业者与企业技术专家入校授课，开设智能翻译、语言大数据、AI语言应用等特色短期课程、专题讲座与实操实训指导。
本专业依托省级外语实验教学示范中心，搭建智能化、数字化、现代化的特色教学实训平台，在一流同声传译实验室、标准化语音室、专业外文图书室基础上，重点升级语言智能实训实验室、大数据语料库平台、AI翻译实训系统等专项教学设施，为交叉学科人才培养提供硬核硬件支撑。同时，学院深度对接数字语言服务产业，与国内头部智能翻译科技企业、语言大数据研究机构、跨境数字服务平台建立长期校企合作，搭建专属校外语言智能实训基地，构建“课堂教学+智能实训+企业实操”三位一体的培养模式。
本专业聚焦“语言功底+智能技术+应用能力”三维核心素养培养，在夯实学生听、说、读、写、译扎实英语语言基本功，传承高端口笔译、跨文化交际核心能力的基础上，系统融入人工智能语言应用、机器翻译实操、语料库数据分析、智能文案创作、跨境智能服务等前沿技能教学。着力培养精通英语、通晓人工智能语言技术、适配数字经济与涉外行业需求的国际化、智能化、复合型语言人才。

Introduction to English (Language Intelligence) Program
The Department of English undertakes the full-range educational management of the undergraduate English (Language Intelligence) Program of the School of Foreign Languages, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, covering student enrollment, talent cultivation, academic management, career development and alumni services.
Founded in 1994, the English major is the earliest undergraduate discipline of the School of Foreign Languages. It has been accredited as an Excellent Program in the national undergraduate teaching evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education, honored as a Sichuan Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program and a Sichuan Provincial Talents Cultivation Base for Foreign Language Studies. Based on its profound disciplinary foundation, the department has launched the distinctive English (Language Intelligence) Program. Catering to the integrated development of artificial intelligence and language services in the digital era, the program focuses on the interdisciplinary integration of artificial intelligence and foreign language studies, and builds a high-end talent cultivation system for compound and intelligent language professionals.
The department boasts a well-structured, responsible and dedicated teaching team with outstanding academic and teaching capabilities. On the basis of traditional research strengths in English literature, linguistics, translation and cross-cultural studies, the team has forged featured research directions including computational linguistics, language intelligence, machine translation, big data corpus analysis and intelligent language services. It has formed professional teaching and research teams with prominent advantages in interdisciplinary fields. Every year, the program invites more than ten high-quality foreign teachers and senior industry experts to deliver specialized courses, academic lectures and practical guidance for students.
Relying on the Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Foreign Languages, the program is equipped with first-class intelligent teaching and training facilities, including upgraded language intelligence training laboratories, big data corpus platforms and AI translation training systems, in addition to advanced simultaneous interpretation laboratories, digital language labs and professional foreign language libraries. The school has established long-term cooperative relationships with leading intelligent language service enterprises and research institutions, building off-campus training bases specialized in language intelligence to support integrated theoretical and practical teaching.
Adhering to the three-dimensional cultivation philosophy of "solid language competence, intelligent technology literacy and professional practical ability", the program consolidates students’ fundamental English skills and advanced interpreting and translating capabilities. It systematically integrates cutting-edge courses in AI language application, machine translation practice, corpus data analysis, intelligent copywriting and cross-border intelligent services. Committed to cultivating international, intelligent and compound talents proficient in English language and artificial intelligence language technologies, the program meets the market demands of the digital economy and global industries.
The program has achieved fruitful educational outcomes. Students have won numerous first prizes in international, national and provincial-level competitions covering English translation, public speaking and language intelligence innovation, maintaining outstanding comprehensive competitiveness and professional adaptability among peer programs in Sichuan Province.
