Department of College Foreign Languages
The Department has a team of highly qualified teachers who are highly adapted to the requirements of the new technological revolution and the construction of the "New Liberal Arts". At present, we mainly undertake the public English teaching tasks for undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students. English courses range from integrated English, intensive reading, practical-style translation, current news articles for extensive reading, speaking and other skills to such expanded courses as academic English writing, cross-cultural business communication and business English.
In recent years, the Department has actively engaged in advancing the "Double First-Class" college English curriculum and pedagogic reforms. Based on our exploration and promotion of the "informationization+" college foreign language teaching reform and "one-to-one" tutoring, we have obtained a number of provincial and ministerial-level teaching and research achievements, such as the Ministry of Education Industry-College Collaborative Education Project, the Sichuan Higher Education Excellent Teaching Achievement Award, and the Sichuan Higher Education Talent Training Quality and Teaching Reform Project. A host of teachers have won awards such as the "FLTRP" and "SFLEP" Cup Competition for foreign language teaching. In terms of talent cultivation, we tutor students for various competitions such as the National College English Speech Competition, Writing Competition, Reading Competition, Debate Competition, National College English Competition, and College English Language Skills Competition, and have won multiple awards such as grand prizes and first prizes.

The Department of English Major
The Department is responsible for arrangement and administration of affairs concerning the enrollment, cultivation, employment, and alumni networking of English-major undergraduate students of the Faculty of International Studies.
Established in 1994, English Major is the earliest BA major at the Faculty. Our faculty is a provincial training base for undergraduate talents and has been awarded “Excellent” in the Undergraduate Teaching Evaluation of English Major by the Ministry of Education. It is also a provincial construction site for first-class undergraduate majors. The Department of English Major has strong faculties who are of reasonable structure, responsibility and devotion. The faculty members have a variety of research directions in a wide range of disciplines and offer elective courses, including translation, literature, culture, linguistics and so on. The core courses of the English Major are taught by professors and specialists. The Department also employs more than 10 high-level foreign teachers and experienced experts in work to offer short-term courses, lectures and practical guidance to students.
The Faculty provides a high-quality environment for practical training and has equipped its English majors with simultaneous interpretation rooms, language labs, reading rooms and so on. It also cooperates with translation companies to establish off-campus translation training bases. The Faculty also actively organizes students to attend academic conferences at home and abroad, and encourages them to take part in various competitions. These rigorous and specialized learning and training have equipped our students with a mastery of two principal skills: the proficient English languages skill and the specialized interpretation and translation skills. As demonstrated by the students’ winning of multiple awards for translation and speech competitions, the Faculty and students’ efforts have been acknowledged among provincial, national and international levels.

Department of Business English
The Department is responsible for arrangement and administration of affairs concerning the enrollment, cultivation, employment, and alumni networking of Business-English-major undergraduate students of the Faculty of International Studies.
The enrollment of English undergraduates (specialized in economics and trade) dates back to 1994. In 2010, Department of Business English was set up and began to enroll undergraduate students majoring in Business English. Business English undergraduate program is recognized as a national first-class undergraduate program, ranking among the top. The Faculty is currently the vice-chairman unit and the southwest contact of The Committee of International Business English Studies, China Association of International Trade. It is also the chairman unit of the Sichuan Business English College Council Alliance.
The Department boasts a strong faculty with a multilingual team of Chinese and foreign teachers, operating five course groups: Business English, Business Practice, Business Communication, Business Interpretation and Translation, and Dual Second Foreign Language. The Business English major is ranked among the top in China, and the faculty members have a hybrid background of "English + Business". The program is committed to cultivating talents with integrated English humanities literacy and business practice competence, forming a synergized training model at the interface between English and business disciplines, and highlighting interdisciplinary and professional characteristics. Our graduates have a wide range of career choices, and a large proportion of them would pursue further study in prestigious universities at home and abroad.

Department of Spanish
The Department is responsible for arrangement and administration of affairs concerning the enrollment, cultivation, employment, and alumni networking of Spanish-major undergraduates of the Faculty of International Studies. The Department aims to forge well-rounded advanced specialists with a solid foundation in Spanish and broader scientific and cultural knowledge. The gruaduates are supposed to be able to engage in translation, research, teaching and management in foreign affairs, economics and trade, culture, press and publication, education, scientific research, tourism and other fields, serving the Belt and Road Initiative.
The faculty members are eminent, focusing on basic theory and practical application, with a complete knowledge structural system and rich resources of practice. They are all masters and doctors with overseas education experience in Spanish-speaking countries, and foreign experts with rich teaching experience are employed as our lecturers. We also maintain exchange and cooperation with overseas institutions and international organizations, such as Complutense University of Spain, Oviedo University, Catholic University of Chile, and the Consulates of Spanish-speaking countries in Chengdu. We having been carrying out "3+1" "2+1+1" Sino-foreign cooperative education and teacher exchange programs with foreign universities. In order to cultivate highly qualified, well-grounded and versatile advanced Spanish specialists with solid basic knowledge and strong working ability, who can adapt to the needs of economic construction and social development, we have diversified the modes of operation. Our Faculty provides premium study and training resources for Spanish major students, including provincial-level foreign language teaching experiment and demonstration centre, and first-class facilities such as a simultaneous interpretation laboratory, an audio-video room, a boutique library and so on.

Teaching Centre for Postgraduates
The Centre is responsible for arrangement and administration of affairs concerning the enrollment, cultivation, employment, and alumni networking of academic postgraduate students of the Faculty of International Studies. Foreign language teaching for postgraduate students of the University at large is also within our scope of responsibilities. The Centre are continuously holding academic English workshops for all postgraduate students of SWUFE, and providing "one-on-one" English paper writing tutoring to lay a solid foundation for their future academic research and international communication. Thousands of postgraduates have benefited from the services over the years.
In 1998, the Centre was acrredited to award master’s degrees in Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics; in 2010, the Centre attained the qualification to award master's degrees in Foreign Languages and Literature. At present, the Centre is running four academic master's programs: "Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics", "English Language and Literature", "Translation Studies", and "Business English Studies". In 2019, the Centre attained the qualification to award doctoral degrees in "Sociology of Language" to train high-level research talents with capacities of discourse analysis and communication in the sociological field.
The Centre's faculty members feature high professional quality, strong pedagogical and research abilities, good teacher ethics and professionalism. In recent years, the faculty have produced a large number of innovative content and academic achievements which exemplify originality and cutting-edge breakthroughs.

MTI Teaching Centre
The Centre is responsible for arrangement and administration of affairs concerning the enrollment, cultivation, employment, and alumni networking of MTI students of the Faculty of International Studies. It was authorized to grant an MTI professional degree in 2010 and offers two professional majors for students: translation and interpreting.
The Centre leverages the English discipline of the Faculty of International Studies as well as strong economic disciplines like economics and management from Southwest University of Finance and Economics to integrate translation/interpreting with business, particularly finance-related fields. We aim to train highly skilled professional translators/interpreters who excel in translation and interpreting skills necessary for high-level international business activities, especially those related to economics, finance, or cross-border management.
Our teachers have strong teaching and research abilities, as well as extensive field experience in translation and interpreting. They have published translated works on various subjects such as economics, management, literature, philosophy, and sociology; they also work at high-profile international events as interpreters. Additionally, the Centre invites experienced translators and interpreters from translation agencies, foreign affairs departments, and enterprises/institutions to teach courses or serve as mentors for students. The Centre also collaborates with multiple translation companies to establish practicum bases for students to enhance their employability.
