Historical Evolution

In 1994, the Department of Foreign Languages for Business and Economics was established and began to enroll undergraduates majoring in "English (English for Economics and Trade)". In 2001, the Department of Foreign Languages for Business and Economics merged with the former Chinese Teaching and Research Section to establish the College of Languages and Cultures.In 2007, the faculty and students of the former College of Languages and Cultures specializing in Chinese language were transferred to the College of Humanities as a whole, and the college was renamed as the faculty of international studies for business. In 2022, the school was renamed as the faculty of international studies.

Current Situation of the School

The school currently has three undergraduate majors, namely English, Business English and Spanish, as well as seven master's majors including Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Business English Studies, English Language and Literature, Translation Studies, International and Regional Studies, English Translation and English Interpretation.

It also has the authority to grant masters of Foreign Languages and Literatures in the first level disciplines and doctorates of Sociolinguistics in the second-level disciplines.

The school has set up six teaching departments including the Department of College Foreign Languages and seven research centers such as the Bay of Bengal National Research Center of the Ministry of Education.
